Three Peaks Race 2009

Race Information

START TIME: Individual and Teams 9.30 am, Early Start 8.30am

EARLY START: Please note that the early start is only for individual competitors or teams taking over 3hours 30mins, and is at the discretion of the race committee.

REGISTRATION: From 7.30 am at Woodhaugh Gardens on race day.

FINISH: Chingford Park - changing rooms and showers available.

WATER STATIONS: There are four water stations on the course; Flagstaff, Swampy, Leith Valley and Mt. Cargill. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR FLUID LEVELS ARE MAINTAINED FOR THE DURATION OF THE RACE. No Leppin will be available at these water stations.

PRIZEGIVING: Chingford Park Clubrooms approx 2.30pm. This includes prize-giving for the Otago Mountain Running Series.

MEAL: Lunch available at Chingford Park Clubrooms for competitors from 1.00pm, on presentation of lunch ticket.

KING AND QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN: sponsored by Town Garage; cash prize for the first man and first woman to Swampy Summit who then go on to finish the race (individual race only).

CHECK POINTS: You must visit the checkpoints on Flagstaff, Swampy and Mt. Cargill.

SAFETY: As a safety requirement, all competitors should carry a long-sleeved water proof top. In poor weather, hat, gloves and leg covering are strongly recommended.
There are NO road closures, road rules apply.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a 26km endurance event. You start at Woodhaugh Gardens and run along Woodhaugh St. for 800 metres. Turn left into Ross Creek tracks, follow the track on the left hand side of the reservoir and onto Wakari Road. Turn right along the road for 800 metres and turn left up the Pineapple track at Tanner Road.
Follow the track to FLAGSTAFF SUMMIT. Return North from the summit for 400 metres to join the Skyline Walkway track. Follow this to the Southern summit of SWAMPY at the Microwave Tower (teams changeover point). Head east until meeting of the pylons/road. Follow the marked course to the farm and then out to Leith Valley Road. Turn left then right at Dryden Rd to cross the motorway on the farm overbridge. Turn left and follow the markers up through the farm and forestry plantations onto Cowan Road. Turn left to the summit of MT CARGILL.
Stay on the metal road all the way up to the summit. Descend Mt Cargill down the walkway into Bethune's Gully. Turn right and continue for 2 kms entering Chingford Park via Tannadice St.
The track from Mt Cargill is narrow - this is a public walking track - be considerate to other users.

IF YOU RETIRE FROM THE RACE YOU MUST REPORT TO THE FINISH.
AS PARTS OF THE RACE ARE ON PRIVATE LAND, NO DOGS ARE TO ACCOMPANY RUNNERS
