The
Leith Harriers Cross Country relay course "The Ponydales"
is challenging but quite manageable.
Note: The course is essentially
identical to last year's course. See description below:
From the
start it is slightly uphill - then turn right and traverse
sloping ground until you get to the 1000m mark. From
the 1000m (downhill) you soon come to the log jump that is
about 60cm high (not difficult) along a fence then cut
down to a cross-over (this will be well marked and you can't
go wrong), through a gate cutting back right. The next
point is the 1600m, you start a climb (not too steep) you
soon come to the junction of the 2000m & 3000m courses.
Left for 2000, right for 3000.
The 3000 goes through
a gate, then down to the right, along a farm track, uphill
through two gates reaching the top of the course, 2300m.
It is mostly downhill from here as you pass over a bridge,
through the gates and crossover then to the finish.
From the junction,
the 2000m course continues to go uphill for 50m then it is
all downhill you pass over a bridge, through the gates and
crossover then to the finish. There are no significant muddy
sections, there is gravel underfoot by the gates, the bridge
is a couple of metres of wood underfoot.
The children's 12 and
Under course is shown in red and is approximately 650 metres.
IT WILL BE FUN
