The Hughes Memorial 10km
Handicap Road Race
Grant McDougall, running off a handicap of 17min 15secs,
won the 2008 Hughes Memorial Handicap Race on Saturday. He is running
into some serious form and made the most of this by winning by just
over 100m over a fast finishing Patrick Manning (running off a handicap
of 19 minutes). Sue Cuthbert (off a handicap of 19 mins 30 seconds)
who will be running in the ANZ Road Champs next Saturday ran steadily
to finish in third place. Andrew Lonie finished in 10th place with
the fastest time of 36mins 11secs. The weather was ideal for running
with the sun shining and a cold North East wind blowing. Thanks
to all the officials who braved the bitingly cold wind - Doug Milne
(our patron), Winifred Harding, Margaret Knox, Peter Hughes.
