EDMOND CUP RACES

Leith Race Report:

Neale McLanachan finished in third place in the Open Race in 36 mins 12 seconds. Luke Kendrick coming off a break from running ran well to be the next Leith runner in 10th Position in 39 minutes 6 seconds. The Leith team of McLanachan, Kendrick, Mark O'Donnell, David Shennan, Andrew Perry and Peter Hughes finished second in the teams event.

Kirsty Morris continued her great form by finishing second just a second in front of Bridget Thompson of Ariki in the Women's Race in 19 minutes 57 seconds. The team of Morris, Jan Craig and Jan Brosnahan finished in second place.

Marc Boulle narrowly held off a tenacious Gene Sanderson of Taieri Athletic Club to win the Masters Men's 50 race in 19 minutes 55 seconds. The team of Boulle, Dave McLean and Ed Stevens won the teams race.

The team of Sarah Thomas, Talia Allison and Lily Clearwater won the teams event in the Girls 14 and Under race.

The relay team consisting of Brian Pascoe, Steve Skilling and Richard Hendry won the 3 lap relay race.

Directional Map to Wingatui Racecourse

The 2006 Edmond Cup races were held on Saturday 17 June 2006 at Wingatui Race course commencing at 1.15 pm

The 3 person relay was held again this year.  Each person completed one lap of the course.  It was open to club members registered or unregistered but runners had to be a paid up member of a club.    There were no medals for this event.

Ages were taken as at 31 December 2006 except that Master’s ages are on the day.

All finishes were on the track in front of the centre stand.

All starts were on the track in front of the centre stand except the men’s event, which is at the brush fence at the start of the home straight.

Using the water jump was optional for all races.

Medals were awarded to the winning men’s team and winning women’s team.

Certificates are available (after the day) for other winning teams on request.
